18 Feb Introducing Clementine
Hello, and welcome to our brand new Clementine blog!
Over the coming weeks and months, we’ll be offering lots of helpful advice on topics such as:
- choosing the right songs for your wedding
- things to look for when booking live music
…and many more besides. In fact, if you’ve got a topic that you think we should be writing about, then please let us know. We’d love to hear from you!
In the meantime, we thought we’d start off by introducing ourselves… so…
We’re Martha and Joel – a.k.a. Clementine. We’ve been playing music together almost as long as we’ve known each other, which is now nearly 6 years. We met while we were both working at Sheehan’s musical instrument shop in Leicester.
Since we met, we’ve both been very fortunate to turn our passion for making music into a full-time career. It’s been a busy 6 years: we worked out the other day that we’d played at over 100 weddings between us. (And with a busy diary already for 2015, that figure is certainly set to rise.)
Other things we do…
Although performing with Clementine (and our party band Supernovas) is a big part of what we do, we have other musical strings to our bows, too. For example, both Martha and Joel also write and record music for TV. In fact, if you’ve watched much TV here in the UK over the last couple of years, you’ll probably have heard Martha singing. Here are a couple of examples:
Midsomer Murders trailer (Jan 2015)
Eastenders trailer (Dec 2013)
(As well as singing these songs, Martha also co-wrote the music and lyrics.)
Also, if you have small children then you may have also come across the Nursery Rhymes 123 videos on YouTube. At the time of writing, these videos together have clocked up over 17 million views (although we often wonder if it’s the same child just watching them again and again!). Martha made all of the music for these videos, including playing all of the instruments. The same nursery rhymes are available on music streaming service Spotify, where they’ve also proved extremely popular.
Finally, both Martha and Joel have recently had songs played on national BBC radio. Martha’s tune “Song of the Sea” (released under the name Martha Bean) was played on Tom Robinson’s show on Radio 6 in February 2015. A couple of months prior to that, Joel’s band Dayflower had their debut single “Heart Shaped Tambourines” played on the same show.
That’s quite enough about us… but we’d love to hear from you!
